Elon Musk is preparing to introduce video conferencing tools on X, positioning the platform to compete with services like Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Reports suggest that X is developing a new video conferencing feature aimed at enhancing user connectivity and collaboration. According to X employee Chris Park, the tool has already undergone internal testing.
During internal testing, the team provided highly positive feedback. Park noted that the tools show promise as a strong alternative to existing platforms like Google Hangouts, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. He also hinted at potential future features, such as the ability to pin specific speakers during calls and enhanced notifications to alert users when someone joins or leaves a meeting.

Exciting Feature Enhancements
In his post on X, Park shared his excitement about the tool, emphasizing its potential to become a strong contender in the video conferencing space. He pointed out several areas the team is expected to prioritize, including enhancing visibility and notifications when participants join or leave a meeting, as well as stabilizing the main panel to minimize the need for frequently switching between participants’ faces.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, responded to Park’s post with a fire emoji, indicating his approval. Still, he did not offer any official confirmation or further details about the new tool.
App researcher P4mui shared insights into the potential functionality of the new video conferencing tool. According to a demonstration posted on X, users will have the option to start a video call right away or schedule one for later directly from the iOS app, similar to other major conferencing platforms. Researcher Nima Owij also indicated that hosts might be able to create unique codes for each meeting, which participants would need to enter to join.

X currently provides live video streaming via its Spaces feature, and the new video conferencing tool might incorporate functionalities from Google Meet, such as easy meeting switching, or Zoom’s seminar-style streaming options. This development suggests that X is committed to enhancing its capabilities and establishing itself as a significant player in the video conferencing market.
