Microsoft Launches New Copilot+ PCs: CEO Satya Nadella Calls Them as the Fastest and Smartest Windows PCs Yet

Ahead of the Build 2024 event, Microsoft announced on Monday that it will launch a new range of personal computers capable of handling more complex artificial intelligence (AI) tasks. During the unveiling, CEO Satya Nadella introduced the “Copilot+” PCs. Nadella stated that Microsoft, in collaboration with Dell Technologies, Qualcomm, Intel, and Advanced Micro Devices, will build these new devices, which are set to be the “fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever built.”

Features of Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC

At the event held on its Redmond, Washington campus, Nadella highlighted some key features of the new range of Microsoft computers, known as Copilot+.

Equipped with the Snapdragon X Series, Copilot+ PCs are optimized for running AI workloads locally with enhanced performance. They feature a built-in CPU within the X Elite that includes 8 high-performance cores and 4 efficiency-optimized cores.

One of the standout features is called Recall. This new addition, to be introduced in Windows 11, helps users locate files and other data they have viewed on their PC. The tool keeps track of everything the user sees and does on the computer, allowing them to search for and retrieve any activity or file from the device.

During the event, Microsoft also unveiled the voice of its Copilot+ voice assistant. The company showcased it as a real-time virtual coach assisting users while playing the “Minecraft” video game.

This new computer model is anticipated to meet the minimum processing power and performance standards. According to Microsoft representatives at the event, the primary reason to upgrade to the Copilot+ PC is for faster AI assistants that operate directly on the PC.

It has also been indicated that other AI features will resemble those found in the Ultrabook category of slim Windows laptops that Intel promoted with PC manufacturers back in 2011.

They mentioned that Copilot+ will soon integrate with the latest OpenAI technology — GPT-40. With all its features, Microsoft suggested that the new Copilot+ will be available at a hefty price tag.

What’s New At The Microsoft Event

In addition to Copilot+, Microsoft unveiled a new generation of Surface Pro tablets and Surface Laptops. These devices will incorporate Qualcomm chips supported by Arm Holdings’ architecture.

Microsoft also discussed a new technology known as Prism. According to the company’s explanation, this technology will enable software designed for Intel and AMD chips to run on chips utilizing Arm technology.

Ahead of its annual developer conference, Microsoft is looking to reclaim its position in the AI race. Integrating AI with computers helps the company to stay ahead of competitors like Apple
