Google Unveils AI-Powered Features for Android 15 Devices
Google has introduced an array of AI-driven features for Android devices running Android 15. According to the official announcement, these updates aim to help users express themselves authentically and seamlessly connect their digital and real-world experiences. Among the notable additions are audio captions, image descriptions, a new sticker feature, and more. Additionally, Google has launched a set of exclusive features tailored specifically for Pixel smartphones.
AI Features for All Android Devices

Expressive Captions
This feature takes captions to the next level by incorporating the intensity and emotion behind a speaker’s tone. It analyzes volume, tone, and non-verbal sounds like applause, cheering, whispering, and groaning. Integrated into the Live Caption feature, Expressive Captions work across all apps and are built directly into the operating system.
Users can enjoy this feature across various content types, such as social media live streams, Google Photos reels, and video messages. Captions appear in real-time, even when the device is in airplane mode.
Image Q&A in Lookout
Designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision, Image Q&A in Lookout now leverages Gemini 1.5 Pro to deliver more detailed and insightful image descriptions. Users can take, upload, or open a photo in the app to hear the description read aloud in a natural voice. Follow-up questions for better image understanding are also supported, and this feature is now available globally.
Emoji Kitchen
Emoji Kitchen lets users create unique emojis by combining existing ones. For instance, merging the pizza emoji with a heart will generate a custom sticker blending the two. This feature, similar to Apple’s upcoming Genmoji, is already available.
QR Codes in Quick Share
Sharing files like photos, videos, and documents has been simplified with the introduction of QR codes. Users can select a file, tap the QR code option, and let others scan it for secure sharing. This eliminates the need to add contacts, verify devices, or adjust sharing settings.
Auto Enhancement in Google Drive
Google Drive now features improved scanning capabilities for sharper and clearer results. Whether scanning receipts, documents, or ID cards, the app automatically enhances contrast, adjusts white balance, and reduces shadows and blurring. The polished scans are saved in your preferred format without requiring manual edits.
Gemini Extensions
Gemini on Android now offers Extensions that integrate with popular apps and services. For example, the Spotify extension allows users to play music, explore playlists, and more. Gemini also enables users to make calls, send messages, set alarms, and manage device settings. Upcoming updates will include smart home controls and additional location insights on Google Maps.

Exclusive AI Features for Pixel Phones
Pixel users now benefit from unique features, such as:
- Screenshots App Enhancements: Automatically organizes saved images and integrates with Circle to Search for saving search results and receiving suggestions.
- Emoji Kitchen on Gboard: Allows users to create custom emoji combinations.
- Enhanced Call Screening: Uses AI to provide contextual response suggestions during calls.
Google has begun rolling out these features for Pixel phones and select Android 15 devices, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks.
